The switching inlet collector

The six-cylinder engine with a working volume of 2,6 l has no the switching inlet collector. His inlet collector consists of the knots shown here. Here special attention is paid to the small weight of a design.


Gates of the switching inlet collector at the six-cylinder engine with a working volume of 2,8 l are put in action by means of a vacuum box (2) by means of a vacuum hose (1). This box it is not necessary to confuse (3) systems of adjustment of speed (an additional complete set) to a vacuum box.


The valve (1) of switching of a register inlet collector defines whether there has to be in a vacuum box a vacuum. He receives a signal of switching on a wire (2) from the control unit of injection. Then vacuum from a tube (3) of an inlet collector can move to a tube (4) of a vacuum box. The valve is installed behind an inlet collector on a so-called noise absorber of the soaked-up air.

Here the sequence in which fixing bolts of an inlet collector of the six-cylinder engine with a working volume of 2,6 and 2,8 l drag on is shown. Only this way it is possible to avoid at installation of deformation of an inlet collector.

The six-cylinder engine with a working volume of 2,8 l

The high torque even with a low frequency of rotation is provided by the long soaking-up tube with a small diameter. On the contrary, ensuring big engine capacity with a high frequency of rotation requires the short soaking-up tube with big cross section. To combine that and another, Audi developed the switching inlet collector. In it depending on a situation six gates are closed and open. Thanks to it at the disposal of each cylinder there is one of the soaking-up tubes of different length and with a different diameter: or an inlet collector for ensuring torque (a long tube with a small diameter) or an inlet collector for support of power (a short tube with a big diameter).

All six gates are put in action by the lowered pressure and are operated depending on engine turns: to 4000 rpm they are closed for ensuring high torque. Over 4000 rpm they are completely open for support of power. Lower than 4000 rpm by means of an inlet collector of torque are won to 30 Nanometers in comparison with a power inlet collector.

The engine with a working volume of 2,8 l reaches the maximum torque in 245 Nanometers at 3000 rpm when using gasoline of brand of euro-super (euro-Super); with gasoline super plus (98 ROZ) torque increases to 250 Nanometers. In the wide range of 2000 to over 5500 rpm on hand there are at least 220 Nanometers.

Check of functioning of the switching inlet collector

Switching of an inlet collector needs to be checked only if the lack of power is observed. In the beginning check a hand ease of the course of the lever mechanism. After that check of functional ability follows: it becomes at the heated-up engine:

  1. Start the engine, lift turns much higher than 4000 rpm.
  2. Observe a vacuum box: draft of management has to be delayed back.
  3. If it not so, check vacuum hoses for tightness. If they as it should be:
  4. Check a vacuum box: put on a spare hose connecting knot of a box, intensively suck a mouth.
  5. If draft of management does not move and/or a lot of air can be soaked up, the box is faulty. Replace it. But if box in working order:
  6. Check the valve of switching of the register of an inlet collector: remove both vacuum hoses from the valve. Put on a spare hose connecting knot of an inlet collector of the valve.
  7. Vigorously suck a mouth a spare vacuum hose. Air should not podsasyvatsya (there is no passability).
  8. Start the engine, lift turns much higher than 4000 rpm.
  9. Again vigorously suck a hose. Now air has to podsasyvatsya (passability is).
  10. If still the source of malfunction was not found (that is quite improbable), then in a workshop it is necessary to check control.

Dismantle of the switching inlet collector

The six-cylinder engine with a working volume of 2,8 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Dismantle an engine cover.
  2. Disconnect sockets of candles, take out from arms of a wire of high voltage.
  3. Dismantle a distributive tube of fuel together with all valves of injection (section System of Injection MPI/MPFI).
  4. Dismantle an inlet hose.
  5. Dismantle the valve of stabilization of idling or disconnect the socket.
  6. Dismantle all vacuum hoses / ventilating hoses of a case on an inlet collector and a branch pipe of a butterfly valve.
  7. Dismantle a cable of a butterfly valve and the socket of its potentiometer.
  8. Unscrew bolts as it should be, the return to an inhaling in the photo above.
  9. Remove an inlet collector with a branch pipe of a butterfly valve.
  10. Installation: replace laying.
  11. Tighten fixing bolts of an inlet collector according to the sequence in the drawing above in four stages. 1st stage: 5 Nanometers, 2nd stage: 10 Nanometers, 3rd stage: 20 Nanometers, 4th stage: once again 20 Nanometers.

Dismantle of an inlet collector of V6 with a working volume of 2,6 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Dismantle is carried out the same as at the engine with a working volume of 2,8 l.
  2. The same rules, as for the engine with a working volume of 2,8 l work for the sequence of an inhaling of fixing bolts.
