Knot of high voltage

The wire of high voltage, the antinoise socket and, of course, spark plugs belong to knot of high voltage of system of ignition along with the coil and the distributor of ignition.

Wire of high voltage

Usually thick wires of high voltage from the ignition coil to spark plugs (or to the distributor) do not cause problems.

They have to be strongly inserted by the antinoise sockets (against a radio noise) into nests of a cover of the distributor of ignition or coils of ignition. Their shtekerny sockets should not be oxidized, and they have to have a reliable contact with sockets of candles.

If the wire of high voltage became firm and fragile, then you have to put a new wire. They are on sale for all engines assembled with the corresponding sockets.

In Audi it is impossible to use any sockets of candles. Sockets have to have the internal resistance corresponding to system of ignition.

Councils: It is easy to find "untight" sites on a wire of high voltage if at the working engine at night to look in a motive compartment. Then the spark jumping on a wire is well visible. On the contrary, the small light flares "running" along a wire do not cause fear.

If in the engine it is constant or with times (at wet weather) not all cylinders, then the reason sometimes in defective sockets of candles work. There through insulating material there are breakdowns of a spark between a metal cover and an electrode of high voltage. Most often on the socket of a candle it is not visible, it punches or not. For check replace the candle socket with another. Temporary help in a way: remove the metal screen of the socket.

Sequence of ignition

For the balanced operation of the engine fuel-air mix ignites in cylinders not in a row 1-2-3-4 (-5-6), and alternately. According to this sequence of ignition ignition wires are inserted into a cover of the distributor of the engine of 1,6 l. If the distributor finger at the uncovered the distributor and dustproof cover specifies on risk on the edge of the case, then the moment of ignition is the share of the 1st cylinder (very first in the direction of travel).

The following sequence of ignition is installed in our engines:

  • Four-cylinder engine: 1-3-4-2. The distributor finger in the engine of 1,6 l rotates to the right (clockwise). In the engine of 1,8 l 92 kW the coil of ignition of the 3rd cylinder gives power supply on a wire of high voltage also to the 2nd cylinder. The coil of ignition of the 4th cylinder on a wire of high voltage gives power supply also on the 1st cylinder. In the engine of 1,8 l and 110 kW there is no danger of confusion because of separate coils of ignition.
  • Six-cylinder engine: 1-4-3-6-2-5. There is no distributor of ignition – the arrangement of connecting knots of wires of high voltage on a package of coils of ignition corresponds to an arrangement of cylinders. Example: the high-voltage wire in a junction point behind on the right approaches the cylinder behind on the right.
